Casey and Seamus’ Sunrise Elopement in the Adirondacks was to die for. Some couples just know from the start that a big, traditional wedding isn’t for them. That was exactly how they felt. Introverted at heart, they wanted a day that felt calm, stress-free, and completely theirs. No giant guest list, no pressure, and no being the center of attention. So, they chose to elope in the breathtaking Adirondacks, a place tied to Seamus’s family and filled with natural beauty.
Crafting a Day That Felt Like Them
From the moment we hopped on our initial consult, it was clear these two wanted something special, something that reflected who they are. We landed on a sunrise mountain elopement—a quiet, intimate way to start their biggest adventure yet. To incorporate their family in a meaningful way, we planned a small ceremony back at their Airbnb with their seven closest loved ones. But before that? A private, heartfelt vow exchange on top of Mount Jo, sealed with a symbolic knot-tying ceremony—a fun, intentional alternative to traditional vows.
The Morning of the Elopement
At 5:00 AM, we laced up our boots and hit the trail, taking the longer route up Mount Jo for an easier (and less sweaty) climb. As the sky shifted from deep navy to soft morning hues, we reached the summit just in time for them to freshen up and change into their wedding attire.
Then, the magic happened.
As the first light spilled over the horizon, Seamus turned to see Casey for the first time that morning—standing on the edge of the world, overlooking Heart Lake. Just the two of them, wrapped in that quiet, golden stillness.
Without hesitation, they dove straight into their vows. The sun slowly rose, casting a warm glow over them as they promised forever. It was intimate. It was emotional. It was everything they had envisioned.

A Mountain Picnic & A Dance by the Lake
With their vows exchanged and their hearts full, it was time to celebrate—elopement-style. We set up a cozy mountain top picnic with fresh coffee and donuts (because let’s be real, that’s the dream). As the morning unfolded, a few early hikers started to trickle in, so we made our way down the mountain to find a more private spot for their first dance.
And wow, did we find the perfect one.
Down by Heart Lake, a soft fog hovered over the water while golden sunbeams streamed through the trees—literal magic. With nothing but the sound of a quiet morning and their favorite song playing from a Bluetooth speaker, Casey and Seamus shared their first dance on the lakeshore.
It was peaceful. It was cinematic. It was so them.

Celebrating with Family
After soaking in every ounce of that slow, intentional morning, we made our way to a nearby field for some final portraits with a stunning mountain backdrop before heading back to the Airbnb.
There, their closest family members were waiting to celebrate with them. They gathered for an intimate knot-tying ceremony, symbolizing the strength of their bond, followed by a relaxed breakfast together. And because no celebration is complete without a little bubbly—they ended the morning with a champagne pop before heading off to spend the rest of the day with their loved ones.

Why Their Elopement Was So Freaking Awesome
This day wasn’t about checking off traditions or making sure everything was “perfect.” It was about being present, being intentional, and doing what felt right for them. And honestly? That’s what makes elopements so powerful.
